1. Boil the eggs in batches to save effort and time

If you want to eat boiled eggs every morning but don’t have time to boil them before you go to work you can boil them for the weekend. You can cook as many eggs as you use for 1 week and store them in the refrigerator.

2. Use a pot big enough so the eggs can be placed in one layer into the pot

After you put all the eggs in the pot, cover them with cold water and add 1 tablespoon of vinegar. The vinegar will stop the egg white to spill into the water if the eggs crack. However, if they are boiled properly there is a small chance that they will crack.

You can also add some salt into the water but that will raise the time the water needs to boil and result in green yolk and overcooked eggs.

3. Place the pot on medium heat without a lid and bring it to a boil

When it is fully boiled remove the pot from the heat cover it with a lid and let it sit for a while. Set the timer at 18 minutes for hard-boiled extra-large eggs, 15 minutes for large eggs, and 12 minutes for medium eggs.

However, if you want soft-boiled eggs, simply reduce the time to 5 minutes less than the time you need to hard boil the eggs. After the time passes place the eggs with a spoon into the bowl full of cold water and ice.

This ice bath will stop the cooking process and make the eggs peel easier. Leave the eggs in the cold water for 5 minutes.

After this, you can peel the eggs and store them in the refrigerator as we stated before. Or you can put them unpeeled in the refrigerator and peel them before use.

Just don’t leave the boiled eggs for more than two hours at room temperature because they can be contaminated with some harmful bacteria.

Last Words

Boiled eggs are nutritious food you can consume daily.

You can use them in different salads, sandwiches, make the famous deviled eggs, or add them to your wrap. They are a great snack and addition to many dishes.

Just store them properly to avoid any unwanted poisoning.
